it's typical. i broke the bank on kusmi tea, the boyfriend on weird whiskey.
yes, rob's gourmet market might just be the most overpriced supermarket in belgium. and yes, shopping there you'll see more middle-aged women in couture shouting into their cell phones in a mixture of russian, french and english than attending the oscars. but it's foodie heaven.
any place that sells more than four dozen international cheeses and has three racks of colourful tea flavours is my church. oh, and did i mention the selection of exotic vegetables and fruit is constantly sprayed with a fine mist of water, in order to keep it fresh? go. now.

Oh my god where is it?? I totally want to go!!
I love Kusmi tea and I can just imagine all the other things they have if they keep such assortiment of teas and bottles...
Thanks for sharing!

Hi Al, the link is www.rob-brussels.be. It was behind the 'go' in go. now. but that was maybe a bit too subtle :)
Enjoy!

Oh now I see it! It's a short word so I think I missed the difference i colours of the text, sorry :p
I will go there as soon as I go to Brussel again, Thanks!

That shelf of Kusmi reminds me of Isolee http://lamb411.com/category/cities/madrid-cities/
in Madrid. Have you been? The thing about overpriced, beautifully packaged food is that for a special treat, you are willing to overlook and enjoy the experience recognizing it is not for everyday shopping (unless that is your income bracket/preference). The shopping experience in a Rob's gourmet or Isolee is 10x what you would get in terms of product variety/quality shopping experience in a run of the mill grocery store that doesn't think about consumer experience as part of its brand identity. Can't wait to experience Rob's in Belgium.
