i have a soft spot for hotel amour and mama shelter, but for this getaway, i wanted to find another boutique hotel that has an amazing story to tell without breaking the bank. hi matic checks all the boxes: it's an ecological hotel, has an inventive design and seems to do things a little differently.

i love places that are several things at once, and paris has no lack of ateliers, workshops, museums and galleries that are also bookshops, coffee bars or even yoga retreats. i'm very curious about art and foodie spot le bal - where the biscuits look delish - and i would love to attend a yoga class at wanderlust before pigging out at brunch there. balance, people. it's all about the balance.

talking about food, paris has a neverending supply of places to enjoy truly great cuisine in a warm atmosphere and interesting decor. the highest up on my wishlist right now are septime, which food bloggers and critics are praising for its no-nonsense approach to fine dining, and nanashi, which i really want to visit for the confetti system art and the bento boxes.

and just in case you have a few hours to kill, stop by sweat shop to get your sewing on. it might not be true couture, but it'll be a lot less expensive than retail therapy at colette or merci.
