wise words for the weekend

i love the typographic posters by therese sennerholt for obvious reasons.

silverlake dots

what i loved most about los angeles was discovering nooks and corners that were really lovely in an unexpected way, like this plaza in silverlake that was painted in bright yellow polkadots. we just had to stop the car and park to admire it from up close.
are you getting tired yet of my pink sperry top-sider boat shoes?

manhattan beach part two

i've already told you we loved manhattan beach so much we went there twice in five days, but i'm determined to convince you to go there by posting even more pictures from our visit. this time you're getting a glimpse of the quirky interior, fantastic food and cocktails at manhattan beach post - one of the best meals we had in los angeles. hopefully these snapshots will give some inkling of how romantic the beach gets at sunset, too. i've even included my dream house in there, just in case i'm up for some good karma or something.

griffith observatory

there are still a lot of places and pictures i haven't shared yet from our trip to california in the spring. it already feels like ages ago, especially when i stop and think what has happened in my life since then. the griffith observatory is where the boyfriend had originally planned to ask me to marry him - but as y'all know by now he already pulled out the ring back in palm springs, probably partly because he was too nervous walking around with it!

in the past few months we've decided to move to geneva for real, not just part time anymore, and to get married next year in september at a beautiful location in spain. i can't wait to start sharing more about that on here, but in the meantime i'll be posting some more about the trip that spurred all of these changes in our lives.

nath and phili

my last weekend as an antwerp resident was magical. i was so happy to be my best friend's maid of honor at her fairytale wedding. i enjoyed every minute of it - from the girls' night in and the morning preparations at the lovely feek suites to the beautiful church ceremony and the dinner party in antwerp's mas museum with its spectacular view. she was a gorgeous bride (her dress from le chapeau wowed everyone) and he was a puppy-eyed groom and i choked up on multiple occasions. i'm happy i managed to take some pictures, because i couldn't have wished for a more happy or beautiful moment to share here and mark my return to the blogosphere.

fall break

so this moving to geneva business has been way more intense than i had anticipated. all i can seem to dream about right now are moments like the one above - some calm and quiet in my favorite coffee bar, typing away and getting inspired. but instead i'm running from city offices to banks and from accountants to ikea, trying to fit all of our stuff in a super tiny apartment and trying to legalize everything about my being in geneva full-time from now on.

i need one more week to get my things in order (and prevent people i work with from thinking that i have dropped off the face of the earth) and get settled in, and hopefully afterwards i'll feel inspired to start blogging again. i am also taking this time off to re-think some things about my blog - its focus, its frequency and the matter of original versus curated content - so you can expect some adjustments by the time i get back.

see you soon!

playtype

i was beyond excited to visit the playtype concept store - obsessed as i am with typography these days. it turned out to be even cooler than i had expected and smack in the middle of one of the most interesting neighborhoods in copenhagen, one i hadn't visited before. i had to muster all of my self-discipline not to bring back some of those cement letters.
obviously i am regretting that i was successful.

lenny leleu

i still think back fondly of the very first time i interviewed lenny leleu - right after she graduated from the antwerp academy - when we bonded over our shared passion for the states. i've been following her ever since, and i thoroughly admire not only her qualities as a superb designer, but also her perseverance, aim and dedication to making it in her own way.

lenny doesn't do compromises, as you can see from her gorgeous new collection above. it's my favorite by her so far, but only because she just keeps getting better and better. i'm sure that in a few years time, she'll be right where she has always wanted to be, and i'll be even more freaking damn proud of knowing her.

simply chocolate

when i was browsing the booths at a copenhagen fashion fair this summer, i came across a very unlikely collaboration - between t-shirt label a question of and chocolate company simply chocolate. but it turned out to be quite the perfect match, as both brands are danish and sustainable, and both have a nice sense of humor. i couldn't not buy the above box of chocolates - though admittedly, i liked the packaging better than the contents (but i'm from belgium, y'all. it's tough to impress me with other chocolates).

herb lester

i don't know about you, but i am absolutely hooked on these maps by london company herb lester. they're fun, creative and pretty, and they invite you into a story, rather than into a place.
p.s. i'll be blogging a little less frequently for a week or two, as i am preparing my move to geneva (and some heavy redecorating over there), but i'll be back in full force mid-september!
